Omede Odekina

Publicity Secretary

Omede is the Team Lead, External Relations at Africa’s Global Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc where he is responsible for designing and delivering on UBA’s external relations strategy; building and maintaining strategic relationships and identifying opportunities to improve external impact and positive perception.

Earlier to assuming the External Relations role at UBA, Omede worked as the Media Relations Executive at Heirs Holdings responsible for the enhanced Pan African, Global Media management and visibility for the Heirs Holdings Group and its subsidiaries and the Management of brand Tony O. Elumelu (TOE). Omede was also a member of the team that launched the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, the largest African philanthropic initiative committed to empowering African entrepreneurs.

Omede sits on the faculty of the UBA Academy for the Experienced, New Hire and the Graduate Management Accelerated Programme (GMAP) induction programme where he designs and delivers training on Marketing and Corporate Communications Strategies, Brands and Crisis Management as part of the induction tool kit.

Prior to joining UBA Plc, Omede worked as the Corporate Communications and Branding Officer at ASO Savings and Loans (ASO) Plc, Abuja, Nigeria’s leading Primary Mortgage Institution (PMI). Omede was saddled with the responsibility of developing and managing ASO’s Corporate Communications hub that efficiently and effectively relates with ASO’s internal and external stakeholders.

Omede holds a Bachelors of Art (BA) degree from Kogi State University and a Master’s (MSc) degree from the University of Lagos.

With a career that spans over 15 years in banking, brand management, public relations, communications and CSR; Omede coordinated the communications strategy for the Tony Blair Faith Foundation and Bishop Justin Webly, Archbishop of Canterbury launch of a major new programme of Faith Foundation-led work in Nigeria to encourage religious reconciliation between Christians and Muslim communities in Nigeria (Received letter of commendation from the office of Tony Blair).
